2012 Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

A color so alive that it’s light on its feet with confidence and style

This year, we say goodbye to the sweet hue of Honeysuckle, the 2011 color of the year, and hello to a bolder, more daring tone. Have you heard? The PANTONE choice of color for 2012 is Tangerine Tango, a vibrant reddish orange, filled with energy, vigor and personality. The lively shade is both dramatic and seductive, but simultaneously sophisticated.

We’ve seen the overall growth in popularity of the color orange among designers and consumers alike throughout the past few years. Now, fashion designers featured in the PANTONE Fashion Color Report Spring 2012, such as Nanette Lepore, Elie Tahari and Adrienne Vittadini, are incorporating Tangerine Tango into their spring collections. I’m excited to share that many of the fashion trifecta’s hottest designs can be found through Valoramás, sold by a variety of the site’s participating retailers. Although Tangerine Tango is the up-and-coming color for spring fashion, as a slightly more exotic take on a traditionally autumnal hue, it is sure to remain prevalent in new styles throughout the summer and well into the fall season as well.

The vivacious shade is perfect for make-up too! It adds a sultry and flirtatious flair to your lips and cheeks, and makes for a fun and rich nail polish choice. As an eye shadow, I find that it brings out an amber cast in my brown eyes and it offers a complementary contrast for my friend’s green eyes as well as for baby blues.

Tangerine Tango can also bring an unexpected burst of color and warmth into your home as an accent wall or home accessory that pops. It’s a lovely, pick-me-up color for pillows, bedspreads, tabletop accessories and appliances.
