Community and Valoramás

I’m Robert Herrell, Vice President for Valoramás and Executive Director of the Valoramás Community Grant Fund. 2012 will be a very exciting year for Valoramás, as we grow in more markets throughout the United States. We hope to become your go-to online destination where you can find fantastic deals at our almost 2,000 retailers, plus great cash back, and all with a Latino flavor that understands, respects and celebrates America’s fastest-growing group.

But as much as we love our online mall and Latino culture, there is something else that really motivates us each and every day. That something is community.

Helping the Latino community is one of the main reasons we at Valoramás are so excited. In 2012 we will be directly helping Latino-serving community-based organizations via our Valoramás Community Grant Fund, which exists to provide assistance to those on the front lines of helping our communities.

From those educating our next generation, to the local promotoras de salud working to keep us healthy, or the nearby Latino theater company inspiring us via their plays and dance productions, local Latino community-based organizations are the lifeblood of our communities, and Valoramás exists to help and expand those organizations so they can do even more good in our backyards.

Community isn’t just a nice thing to talk about at Valoramás, it is a core component of what Valoramás stands for. It’s even a major part of our name – the “more value” that we speak of refers to the critical value of the Hispanic community in addition to the great values you get when you become a Valoramás member.

In the future we’ll be making some big announcements about the Valoramás Community Grant Fund.
