Jenni Rivera

Vision

The Huffington Post asked Jenni Rivera what her next big goal was (after selling 20 million albums and producing the no. 1 reality show on Hispanic cable). Ms. Rivera said, “I want to be the Mexican-American Oprah Winfrey.” She added, “not just to host [the show], I want to OWN it! So, that’s in my future.”

In addition to producing the show I Love Jenni on Mun2, the Mexican- American singer/songwriter has also found success as an entrepreneur. She already OWNs:

  • Divina Realty
  • Jenni Rivera Fragrance
  • Jenni Jeans
  • Divine Music
  • The Jenni Rivera Love Foundation

Jenni Rivera- supporting women

One of the reasons Rivera’s reality show has been so successful is that women can relate to her. She is not a size 0 and doesn’t pretend to have the perfect life. I think her honestly has been something that draws viewers to her and her story.

Jenni Rivera was a single mom at 15 years old and a victim of domestic violence. In addition to founding her own Jenni Rivera Love Foundation, she became the spokeswomen for the National Coalition against battered women and domestic violence in Los Angeles.

Jenni Rivera is currently working on an autobiography to document her story thus far. Although she has had a difficult past to overcome, she hasn’t lost her spirit and remains focused on her children and her future.

Jenni and Chiquis- like mother like daughter

Jenni’s oldest daugher Janney (Chiquis) is Vice President of Jenni Rivera Enterprises. She has run her mother’s businesses and helped raise her four siblings. The mini Jenni is starring in her own reality show Chiquis ‘n Control which premiered on Saturday. The reality show follows the 26 yr. old Latina as she moved into her own apartment and opened a hair salon in Encino, CA called Blow Me Dry.

Chiquis told Latina Magazine, “My mom and I [sort of] grew up together. She’s been my support. Honestly, I’m always going to thank her. Now it is time for me to show the world what I learned from my mom. I want to go out into the world and start my own little empire.”

Janney hopes to open more Blow Me Dry salons in addition to writing books and acting. I think she definitely has the drive and charisma!

Catch up on the first episode below and watch Chiquis ‘n Control on Saturday @ 3pm/2C on Mun2!
