Valoramás and our $150,000 Community Grant Program
Friday, April 27th, 2012Valoramás today is proud to announce our inaugural $150,000 Founders’ Grants Initiative, where our Valoramás members will reward 16 Latino community partners with grants of up to $35,000. The grants will be allocated among the 16 organizations based on the results of an online vote by Valoramás members at valoramas.com.
Voting in the initiative will occur from Friday, April 27th through Sunday, May 20th. We will be waiving our $25 annual membership fee to allow all community members to participate in the three-week voting process. To vote, new members can register easily on www.valoramas.com, using the special promotional code “FOUNDERS2012”.
“We are excited to make a positive difference in Latino communities by giving Valoramás’ members the final say in which Latino community groups will get the lion’s share of our $150,000 Founders’ Grants Initiative,” said Alejandra Garza, President of Valoramás.
Supporting the Latino community is at the heart of what Valoramás is about, and this is a great way to jump-start that community effort in Chicago and Houston. We are truly excited to be partnering with 16 wonderful Latino-serving community-based organizations. They are our inaugural community partners, and we hope this is just the beginning of a long-term community partnership with each of them.
The grand prize winning organizations in Chicago and Houston will receive $35,000 each in unrestricted funds; second place in each city will receive $17,500, with $10,000 going to the two third-prize winners. All other organizations will get $2,500 in unrestricted funds.

- Talento Bilingüe de Houston
The participants in the $150,000 Valoramás Founders’ Grants Initiative will be honored at community events in Chicago and Houston following the completion of the vote in late May and early June 2012.
